AI navigation: page names, scales, reference links
Run AI navigation once per project to name every sheet, propose a scale per page and turn sheet references like S3 into links you can click.
On a 60-sheet set, naming pages and setting scales by hand is the slow part. AI navigation does it in one run, and it also makes the cross-references on your sheets clickable.
Run it
- Open the project and go to Plans & Takeoffs.
- Click AI takeoff at the top right. Under Set up, click AI navigation. Its tooltip reads Detects sheet names, scales and reference links. It runs across the whole project, not just the open page.
- If some pages haven't finished text recognition, a dialog explains the choice: Pages are still being read offers Wait until reading is done or Run now; Some pages haven't been read yet offers Run OCR, then detect or Run without waiting. Waiting is the most accurate. Running now means the AI reads those pages itself, which the dialog says is less accurate, and it costs extra.
- A banner at the bottom shows progress, for example AI navigation 3/17 · 14 queued. Pause holds it, Resume continues, the × stops it. Thumbnails read AI scanning… while their page is read. You can keep measuring on pages that are done.
If a run is already going you see Name & scale is already running. Wait, or click Stop that run to start over. If text recognition was paused you see OCR is paused; click Resume OCR, then detect.
Page names
When the run finishes, each thumbnail in Page Preview shows its sheet number and title, for example Page 4. A6 GENERAL NOTES. Rename any page inline if the AI misread the title block. See Set the page scale.
Scales
The AI reads the scale printed on each sheet.
- When a page has one clear scale, Plankore applies it and the thumbnail chip shows it, for example 1/4" = 1'-0". The first time you draw or calibrate on that page, the AI-Detected Scale dialog appears: AI has detected a scale for this page. Please double-check it before taking measurements. Click Continue. It appears once per page.
- When a sheet carries several figures at different scales, the chip lists them as AI: [figure], [scale] with an Apply button beside each. Hover the chip to see AI-detected scale, click Apply to calibrate, then apply the one that matches the drawing you are measuring.
Verify it before you measure: take Measure, click both ends of a printed dimension and compare. If it's off, recalibrate from that dimension. Printed scales lie more often than you'd think, because the sheet was plotted to a smaller paper size or a detail is drawn at a different scale from the title block. See Measure a distance.
Reference links
Drawings point at each other: S3, 6/S3, see A4. Once sheet numbers are known, those references on the open page become links.
- With Move selected, look for a light blue box around a sheet reference.
- Hover it. A card reads Go to S3. ADU FOUNDATION DETAILS. A reference to the sheet you're already on reads S3, this sheet instead.
- Click it to jump there. A Back to A4 pill appears at the top of the destination; click it to return to exactly the view you left. Navigate anywhere else and the pill goes away.
A copied page carries no sheet number, so links always go to the original.
If something goes wrong
- No name on some pages. Those sheets had no readable title block. Name them by hand.
- A scale looks wrong. Recalibrate from a known dimension. Your calibration replaces the AI's.
- A reference isn't a link. The target sheet may not have a sheet number yet, or two pages share the same number so the link is ambiguous.
