AI floorplan: Detect walls, rooms, doors and windows
Run Floorplan or Smart Floorplan on a page to draft walls, rooms, doors and windows — with region select, and what to expect.
Before you run
- Open the page you want (detection runs per page).
- Make sure it has finished processing — otherwise: "This page is still being processed. Wait for page processing to finish, then try AI detection again."
- Set the scale first if you want the results in real feet/meters right away.
Run a detection
- AI takeoff → Floorplan or Smart Floorplan.
- If asked, drag to select a region — draw a box around the plan area and leave out schedules, notes and the title block. Press Esc to cancel. Tighter region = fewer false hits.
- Progress shows in the overlay: Starting detection… → Running ML models… → Syncing results to canvas… → Detection complete. Use Pause / Resume if you need to; Stop ends the run early.

Floorplan vs Smart Floorplan
Both find walls, rooms, doors and windows. Smart Floorplan spends more effort on complex sheets — dense annotation, hatched walls, overlapping layers — and generally returns cleaner rooms and fewer broken walls. Try Floorplan first on clean sets; switch to Smart Floorplan when results look fragmented.
What you get
Results land in the Takeoff tab as ordinary objects, filed by CSI division: doors and windows under 08 – Openings (as counts, e.g. Windows · 4 EA), rooms under 09 – Finishes (as areas), and walls under 06 – Wood, Plastics, and Composites as Internal / External Wall Perimeter linear objects (plus wall centerlines). On the canvas they show as AI-badged shapes over the plan. From here it's a normal takeoff: review, fix, name, and price — see Review AI results.

Tips
- One assist at a time: "Another AI assist is already running on this project. Wait for it to finish or stop it first."
- Running the same detection again on a page replaces that page's AI results — review before re-running.
- Doors and windows read best on plans at 1/4" = 1'-0" or larger; on small-scale site plans expect fewer hits.
